About Our Waxing
When getting waxed, many people don't think about skin care but it's a crucial part of the process! When getting a wax at Head2Toe, we make sure skin care is the FIRST priority. Here, we use hard wax instead of soft or "strip" wax. Unlike soft wax, hard wax adheres only to the hair and not the sensitive skin underneath. As a result, you have less irritation and pain! In addition to using a gentler form of wax, we also properly prep the skin and use aftercare products to ensure a comfortable experience.

Pre/Post-Treatment Recommendations

Pre-Treatment Instructions:

Stop shaving/plucking 2 weeks prior to your wax. Hair that is approximately 1/4" in length (about the size of a grain of rice) allows the wax to get a better grip and ensures a better result.
Gently exfoliate the area that will be waxed the day before your appointment. This can be done with a dry brush or sugar scrub.
For women, skin can be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle, so consider booking in between your cycles.
If you’re worried about pain, you may take an ibuprofen an hour before your wax, if medically appropriate for you.

Post-Treatment Instructions:

Immediately following a waxing appointment, some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal, temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These symptoms should subside over the next 24 - 48 hours. You may apply a soothing hydrocortisone cream to relieve any uncomfortable symptoms.
It is recommended to avoid heat or friction 24-48 hours following a wax session.
To prevent ingrown hairs, starting a few days after your appointment and then continuing a couple of times every week, exfoliate the areas you get waxed using a dry brush or sugar scrub. Moisturize every day to keep the skin supple and help new hairs to grow through normally.
You may notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives best results.
For best results and minimal discomfort during future waxes, do not shave between your appointments.
